Music Monday: mewithoutYou
by Matt Goold
mewithoutYou just released a new album called Ten Stories and in doing so have returned a little bit back to their earlier roots. It’s not Catch For Us The Foxes, of course, but it’s also not It’s All Crazy, and I’ll mark that off as a win. While I’m being somewhat harsh, I only mean to say that their new album is good, and potentially very good. Certainly worthwhile of a listen for fans of new and old. One thing to note about mewithoutYou is how lyrically dense they are. I mean, Aaron is an English professor during his time not touring; he knows what he’s doing, and he knows how to do it. It’s always been some writing of the highest caliber and this is no different. I’d also like to point out that this is their first album detached from any label and they are doing this all on their own, flyin’ free.
